Eregi Girls closed
The Ministry of Education has closed Eregi Girls’High School after several students were hospitalized with an unknown sickness.
This comes as Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu is set to visit the School in the next “couple of hours.”
After students went on a rampage, education officials in Kakamega County decided to temporarily close the school on Wednesday.
They demanded to be allowed to return home after 90 students were hospitalized to several hospitals due to an epidemic of a ‘strange disease.’
According to a County Government statement, the Board of Management, Ministry of Education officials, and the Teachers Service Commission met before making the decision.
In the statement ; “Form 1, 2, and 3 students were allowed to take a temporary break and are expected to return next week once the situation has been carefully assessed and necessary measures put in place to prevent a recurrence of a similar situation”
