Renson Mulele Ingonga Biography

Big names fell by the wayside in the campaign to replace Noordin Haji as Director of Public Prosecutions after President William Ruto chose Renson Mulele Ingonga, a little-known prosecutor.

Ingonga, who was born in Kakamega County, was one of the insiders from the Director of Public Prosecutions who were interviewed for the role. The interviews took place on August 1st and 2nd, 2023.

Until his appointment, the prosecutor oversaw the regional office in Garissa and had the position of assistant DPP.

He began working with the ODPP ten years ago. Ingonga had previously worked as a land registrar in Kilifi. He worked as a prosecutor in Nairobi before being transferred to the Northeastern region.

His colleagues describe him as media-shy and a quiet legal genius who enjoys sinking his head in work and speaking less, with an eye set on the outcome.
